Pura Tirta Empul is located at a small town called TampakSiring, north of Ubud. The water at Tirta Empul is considered to be the holiest on the island, and to possess ‘miracle’ healing powers. It came from ground water spring.
As instructed by our driver, we have to wear a sarung and get in to the 1st pool. This pool only have 2 spring water. The water is very cold and refreshing. We head to a spring water, pray for what we want, and bow for the numbers of age, under the spring. ( im 30 years old so i bow for 30 times ). After doing so, go to the 2nd pool, which has around 10 spring water. Our guide told us that we can't go for all the spring water due to this is our 1st visit. If we do so, tomorrow morning we will be very tired and feels very lazy. So he only ask us to go for 1 spring water. Do the same thing as the 1st pool.
After the Holy Bath, change to dry cloths and continue our tour in the temple. Our driver give some donation and asked a priest to pray for us. We squad down on the floor, the priest gave us some colorful flowers. We just follow what our driver do, pick up certain color flowers and hold it with our palm together, pray for what we want. Do the same thing to the others color flower. Then the priest will sprinkle some water on our head, then gave us some rice. We have to eat some of it, just a few pieces, then stick some on our forehead and some on our neck. The end of the ceremony.
Some tourist found weird that we are the only who can do this. This is the different between a good driver and a bad driver... haha... Very good experience.
Feel so damm hungry after the bath, head to UBUD for our lunch. We had decided to go for BEBEK BETUTU this time, since we already had BABU GULING last year. Still miss it but want to try something new.
Bebek Betutu is a traditional Balinese Dish. Bebek means duck, Betutu is a popular dish where chicken or duck are wrap in banana leaf, slow roasting with a lot of spices and herbs for at least 4 -5 hour. Advance booking is required if you wish to eat this in BALI. It takes an overnight marination to make this famous dish.
We decided to go MURNI'S WARUNG, voted the best restaurant in Bali that serve BEBEK BETUTU. We invite our driver to had this lunch together with us.
The lunch cost us around rp200,000 plus, for 3 of us. Very cheap.
After lunch around 5pm, we head to our last location of the day. GOA GAJAH.
The Goa Gajah, that literally means Elephant Cave, 10mins from UBUD. It is a cave shaped in the form of the letter "T". It was a monastery for the Buddhist and Hindu monks in the ancient times. The monks used to meditate in these caves.
The entrance exhibits depiction of animals, entangling leaves, waves of the ocean and rocks. The monstrous Kala head or the human shaped head depicts as if it split opens the rock with its hands at its entrance. The interiors of the cave are decorated with shrines. An elephant statue also stands inside the Goa Gajah cave.
Leave Goa Gajah at 6pm. Reach LEGIAN to check in THE LOKHA HOTEL at 7:30pm. We are going to spend our last 3 nights here. Book this hotel from MATTA fair. Cost us less than RM600 for 3 nights.
Total duration for this tour is 9.5hrs. Pay our driver rp450,000 + 50,000 tips. Very happy tour & hope to see him again on our next visit.
to be continue...
